Lift Passes

You can buy a lift pass for anything from one day to the whole season. The longer the period that the lift pass lasts for the better the daily rate you will pay. If you do not use your lift pass for any reason the only way that you can get a refund is with a doctors certificate that says you are unable to ski.

It is also a good idea to keep the payment receipt in case you lose the pass. The lift pass is encoded so you do not need to show it when going on the lifts, it will be automatically scanned as you pass through the ski lift entrance - this means that you can keep it in a safe pocket and not worry about dropping it - BUT make sure you put it in clothing that you will use each day - It is not good to get to the lift and realise that the pass is in the jacket you have left at the hotel !!

If you are thinking of bringing young children to ski you will find that if they are born during 2000 or after the pass will only cost 10 euro regardless of the number of days. There is also a discount for children / teenagers born between 1988 & 1999 but you will need ID when buying the pass so REMEMBER to take there passports. Men born 1944 or earlier & women 1948 or earlier will also receive a discount, again ID required. Anybody born 1932 or earlier will only pay 10 euro for the pass regardless of the number of days but of course ID is required.

Doctors

There are three doctors in St.Anton but before I list them - Some important points - Make sure that you have ski insurance, ideally a policy that will cover helicopter rescue if required. Make sure that you bring all your insurance details with you - if you don't you will have to pay for any treatment and services by credit card / cash which can be very expensive. You can purchase a helicopter rescue card with your lift pass for 10 euro per week. If you have a problem on the slopes ask somebody to advise the staff at any of the lifts and they will call in a rescue team and medic.

Lost & Found

If you have lost anything or if you find something that somebody else has lost you should go to the Gemeindeamt (Town Hall) which is next to the Sport Hotel.

Post Office

The St.Anton Post Office is situated next to the St.Antoner Hof hotel. To reach it you should take the road between the perfume shop & the Aquila cafe at the bottom end of the pedestrian zone. Walk down this road going to the left of the very old dark wooden house (Thoni House) and then turn right behind the old house and you wil see the post office on your left. It is open Mon - Fri 08.00 - 12.00 & 14.00 - 17.30

Lift Passes

You can purchase lift passes at all of the main ski lift stations and the office under the Post Hotel. Keep your receipt in case you lose the pass. The passes work on a swipe system so you can keep them in a pocket and they will be automatically read as you pass between the scanners when entering the lift stations. The ski lifts in the area are numerous and very efficient and modern. There is not normally much of a problem with queuing but the resort is of course much busier during the school holidays. My only advice is to try and get up onto the slopes before 9.30 as that is about the time that the ski schools start heading up and it can get busy at this point.

Food Shops

There are two supermarkets in St.Anton. The spa (which has a very good butchers department)is at the bottom end of the village just after the perfume shop as you leave the pedestrian area and head towards Nasserein. The Nice & Fresh is situated next door to the Testa Rossa cafe in the pedestrian area. It is best to take cash as not all cards work or are accepted in the supermarkets. They are normally open from 07.00 - 20.00 but it is worth while checking the open hours on the doors. Living here in St.Anton it is my opinion that the supermarkets here are cheaper than their UK equivalents. The village bakery which has a very large range of lovely fresh bread is opposite the Testa Rossa and is open from 7am.

Banks & Cash Points

There are three banks in St.Anton, The Raiffeisen, The Volksbank & The Sparkasse, all of which are situated in the pedestrian area. I have always found that I get a better exchange rate for pounds here in St.Anton than in the UK..... The banks are open 08.00 - 12.00 & 14.00 - 17.00 as well as 09.00 - 12.00 on Saturdays. There are also several cash points around the village - In the wall of the Dorf Stub'n restaurant next to the Testa Rossa cafe, At the Nassereinbahn, In the wall of the Sport Hotel & in the Gallerie Versalla which is on the left as you approach the church from the pedestrian area.

Internet Cafe

There are several Internet hot spots around the village and many of the main hotels now have Internet, the newer ones are installing Internet in the rooms. There is however an Internet cafe in the village centre and you will find it right in the middle of the pedestrian zone.

Petrol Station

St.Anton has a petrol station with a very good car wash. It is situated at the far end of the village in Nasserein just off the main road coming in from the Arlberg Tunnel.

Taxi / Buses

There is an extremely good bus service that links all areas of the ski region - St.Jakob / Nasserein / St.Anton / St.Christophe / Lech & Zurs and it is a free service. You can get a bus times schedule from the tourist office or your hotel. There is also a night bus that runs around the St.Anton / Nasserein area but it is fairly infrequent and you will have to pay. It is normally much quicker and not too much more expensive to take a taxi. The main taxi rank is at the top of town in the parking area adjacent to the main bus stop just after the roundabout in front of the Galzigbahn.

Massage

After a few hard days on the slopes and long nights in the bars you may feel like a massage. Most of the main hotels will have masseurs and you can make a booking with them. You can also go to the Wellness & Spa Centre (see links page) Alternatively there are some independent masseurs who will most likely be cheaper. They are very busy but here are there numbers - they are both called Martin !!
